Goodreads alternative

A Goodreads alternative for the days you read.

Goodreads is a library and a social network. BookWorm is a reading habit: the page you're on, today's goal, and the streak you're building. Here's an honest look at both.

Where BookWorm is different

It's built around today, not the shelf. You choose a daily goal in pages or minutes, and BookWorm counts every day you reach it. The streak worm grows a segment each day, and the calendar marks every reading day.

Audiobooks are first-class. Listening is logged in hours and minutes and counts toward the same goal as paper and ebooks, so a week of commuting with a great audiobook is a week you read.

It stays out of your way. No feed, no followers, no account to create. Log your page in a second, start the reading timer from the Lock Screen, and see your goal on a widget.

When Goodreads is the better choice

If you mainly want to write reviews, follow friends, join groups or browse recommendations, Goodreads does that and BookWorm doesn't try to. It also runs on Android and the web.

Plenty of readers use both: Goodreads for the shelf and the reviews, BookWorm for the daily habit.

Questions about switching from Goodreads

Can I import my Goodreads library into BookWorm?

Not yet. You add the books you're reading now by searching Apple's book catalogue, and BookWorm takes it from there. Most people start with the two or three books on their nightstand.

Does BookWorm have a reading challenge like Goodreads?

Yes. Your daily goal adds up to a number of books for the year, and every book you finish lands on a shelf with a gold flag showing your pace. See the reading challenge.

Do I need an account?

No. Your library syncs through your own iCloud account, and you can export everything from Settings.

Is BookWorm social?

Only as much as you want. You can share a finished book as a vintage library checkout card, but there is no feed and nobody follows you.

Bring it to your iPhone.

BookWorm keeps your page, your goal and your streak, one tap at a time.
